Beans is right.
To get an authentic vintage look, just get a pair of dry selvege denim and wear them for about 6 months to get the disired distressed look.

OMG,
use a knife instead of scissors.
using scissors makes it look fake and the life of the jeans are shortened!
these holes will get way big, use a knife!

I am constantly in work closed, more conservative type deal, 5 days a week, so i can’t wear jeans all the time and i have other clothes i wanna wear so this helps instead of wearing them out for 6 months.
and besides, i have clothes that are 5+ yrs old and they still haven’t tear or anything, unless i’m rock climbing in them which i haven’t done in a while so this is helpful.
thanks

why

these are pretty much the same techniques i use as well, and they work for the most part. i find that if you rush the job, the jeans wont come out exacally how you want them. my advice is to take your time when using these methods, and you should be fine. many thanks to this woman for her vid

We’re talking about distressing jeans to make them look vintage and you’re complaining about the result looking fake? Why don’t you pick up a pair of raw denim and actually put in the work if you want it so authentic.

you don’t distress jeans with scissors asshole.
i believe wearability would be more of an issue when using scissors, you shorten the life of the jeans this way as compared to using a knife. using scissors will only make a hole look good once, wash it 3 times and you cant wear the jeans anymore. shut your mouth before i fuck it.

Uh-oh, a hard-ass.
What makes a knife so much better than scissors? What, too uncoordinated to make finite cuts with scissors like you would with a knife? Come on, buddy, if you’re arguing against the entire idea of making cuts into jeans, sure.
Stick to your American Eagles, bud, they go smashing with your popped polo.
My initial statement still stands: why don’t you stop being a bitch and pick up raw denim and put legit wear and tear in? I can help you find some nice jeans, cutie.

a knife will make the denim unravel and the hole continually larger. you fray the denim way too much with scissors. and it just looks like you cut them with scissors.
american eagles? wouldnt ever wear american eagle jeans. they are way low quality denim and fit horribly. and ovverpriiced.
popped polo? okay, not everyone lives in jersey..remember that. pick up raw denim and put wear and tear in ? done it, but sometimes we like to choose where the ‘destroyed look’ goes. hence the whole idea.
